Frequently Asked Questions

What is GhanaCare Ltd.?

GhanaCare is a company that provides health care coverage for your loved ones still living in Ghana, through a network of 20 hospitals and clinics serving all regions of Ghana.

How can I get this coverage for my loved ones left behind in Ghana?

By sponsoring your loved ones for as low as $100 per year. See the Services Offered for details which illustrate three plans, called Silver, Gold and VIP, with increasing levels of coverage and services.

How do the plans work?

You sponsor a Member or Members in Ghana and they choose their primary hospital or clinic. The Member is assigned to a family doctor and whenever the Member sees the doctor there is no charge. Annual physical checkups are also at no charge.

After I pay the $100 or whatever the plan calls for, will I pay anything else during the year?

You may, depending on services rendered to the Member. Some services, for example the first seven days in the hospital are at no charge. Charges for other services are drastically reduced (discounted), for example, referrals to a specialist and some of the tests done at the hospital.

Does the Member have to pay for the services at the time service is rendered?

No. The Member will never have to pay at time of service. For those services for which there is a discounted charge, GhanaCare will bill you, the Sponsor, every three months and the amount may range from zero to $10 or more depending on the services used by the Member. GhanaCare will not include any additional charges and a copy of the itemized bill from the hospital/clinic will be sent to the Sponsor.
